FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is SnapLyrics?

SnapLyrics is a place to discover short videos and the words behind them — stories, thoughts, wisdom, quotes and motivation — together with a music database that shows the tempo (BPM), musical key and Camelot code of hundreds of thousands of songs.

Why does every video have a transcript?

Words are the point. Every video page shows its full text so you can read it, quote it, search for it and share it even when you cannot play sound.

How do I find the BPM or key of a song?

Search for the song or artist name. Each song page shows its tempo, key, Camelot code and the keys it mixes well with. You can also browse by tempo or key from the Music menu.

What is the Camelot code (for example 8A or 9B)?

It is a way of writing musical keys on a wheel: the number is the position and the letter tells you minor (A) or major (B). Songs with the same number, or a neighbouring number, usually mix smoothly.

Where does the music data come from?

Song metadata comes from public music catalogues; tempo and key are measured by audio analysis. Measurements can occasionally differ from the original recording — if you spot a mistake, tell us through the contact page.

Does SnapLyrics host song lyrics or audio?

No. SnapLyrics does not host copyrighted song lyrics or audio files. Song pages show technical data and links to official streaming services.

Are the creator tools free?

Yes. The subtitle and lyrics tools run in your browser and your files are not uploaded to our servers.
